Like I said in my last post, I love a good roadtrip.
Three years ago before Nick’s dad got sick, we all piled in the truck and had a Griswold vacation to Omaha. We always said we’d love to return because we had a good time and it didn’t feel like we were there long enough. This year, thanks to some mighty powerful endothelin blockers, he felt more than up to making the trip and trooped all over the city like a boss.
The pre-trip yarn shopping for a blanket that I wanted to design. The colours are inspired by artisan soap. It’s only a 9 hour trip so we gun-booted it through ND, SD, Iowa, and into Nebraska by supper time!!My favourite neighbourhood in Omaha – The Old Market – restored livestock market buildings that are now used as restaurants and shops.I got to go to the Cheesecake Factory!! I don’t know if they exist in Canada, but if they do, none are in Winnipeg. This was a treat for me because since embarking on my fitness and weight loss journey, I haven’t had a single mouthful of cheesecake in over a year. Until last week. Joy!!!This was a fabulous yarn store and I wish I hadn’t shopped for jeans so I could have spent more money here!! I left with a skein of beautiful gushy lace weight mink yarn – which my kittens got at the other day. I guess I’ll just have to order more…..This is why we go to Omaha: The Drover. Since the dawn of time, or pretty near to it, this restaurant has been serving up the best steak in the entire known universe. Seriously. Go there. Eat meat. Love.…..and finally, here is the blanket that I designed while on this roadtrip. It’s clearly not finished. Sadly, I have joint problems in my left wrist related to that nasty, interfering day job of mine, so progress has been slowed to a crawl as I learn to do Tunisian Crochet with my right hand. Bear with me, fellow hookers. I don’t know how you guys use your right hand for this….
